Best for

When topicals are the right call

  • Recovery, muscle and joint products
  • CBD and hemp topicals
  • Skin, beauty and body care lines
  • Sports, massage and spa channels

What you give up

The honest trade offs

The rules depend on the claim. A cosmetic moisturizer, a pain relief rub with menthol and a sunscreen are three different regulatory categories, and the last two are OTC drugs that need a registered drug facility. Packaging like airless pumps and roll ons adds cost and its own minimums.

We would rather tell you this now than after a deposit. Choosing the wrong format is the single most expensive early mistake a brand can make.

Low MOQ is not enough

What a reliable topical manufacturer looks like.

A low minimum only matters if the product comes back right. These are the things we check before a topical manufacturer ever sees your brief.

  1. Is registered for what you are making, since cosmetics, OTC drugs and hemp topicals each carry different requirements.

  2. Runs stability and preservative efficacy testing on your formula.

  3. Fills jars, tubes, roll ons, pumps and sticks in house.

  4. Offers stock bases so a first run does not need a custom formula.

Where it sells

Channels where topicals perform.

Format and channel should be decided together. A product that wins on Amazon can stall in mass retail, and the reverse.

Sports and recovery

Gyms, physical therapy and massage practices.

Beauty and body care

Serums, lotions and balms with a clear benefit.

Hemp and CBD

Topicals are among the most trusted cannabinoid formats.

Pharmacy and mass

OTC pain relief is a large, steady category.

Questions

Topicals, answered.

What is the minimum order for private label topicals?

Typically 1,000 to 5,000 units on existing bases. Custom formulas and OTC drug products run higher. Starting from an existing formula keeps minimums lowest. We will tell you honestly where a manufacturer's real minimum sits, which is often different from the number on its website.

How long does topical manufacturing take?

6 to 10 weeks. OTC drug products like pain relief rubs and sunscreen take longer. The biggest variable is usually packaging and label approval rather than production itself, so we start that work in parallel.

How do I find a reliable topical manufacturer?

Ask for the real minimum per SKU, a sample before a deposit, and a certificate of analysis from a recent batch, and check the points on this page. Or send us a brief, because that qualification is the work we do every day.

Can I start on a stock formula and move to custom later?

Yes, and for most brands that is the right order. Launch on a proven formula with your label, learn what sells, then invest in a custom formulation once the volume justifies it.

Do I get specifications and certificates of analysis?

Yes. Cosmetic topicals are made in facilities registered under MoCRA and following cosmetic GMP. OTC drug products like pain relief rubs and sunscreen are made in FDA registered drug facilities, and we match those projects accordingly.

Will I know who makes my product?

Yes. You meet the manufacturer once the project is real, at the brief, sample or purchase order stage, and from that point you can vet them yourself: certifications, audit history and a visit if you want one.

Does it cost anything to send a brief?

No. Sending a brief and getting a quote through us costs you nothing.
